At Hofstra University Monday, I reported to the New Grad building. I gave the security guard my ID and at first, she had a problem with my going inside the building. After a few minutes of explaining, she finally caved and let me inside. I took a few photographs such as: http://s3.amazonaws.com/data.tumblr.com/tumblr_ktkrhm61RG1qas644o1_1280.jpg?AWSAccessKeyId=0RYTHV9YYQ4W5Q3HQMG2&Expires=1259627086&Signature=B4kdv9WDikTe02EHZbglmKJgaes%3D
This photograph ”is the second area that is noticeable once you walk through the doors. The graduates are provided with a large amount of space and a flat screen television. If you keep walking there is a bathroom to the right and a large hallway leading to the outside door.”
After I took this photograph of the comfortable atmosphere, I interviewed 2 people who were on their way to their rooms. At first I thought the New Grad building was students who were graduating this upcoming year, I had no idea that they are graduate students. Most of them are law students. I asked them questions such as: “Why did you choose to live in the New Grad building and not off campus.” “Is this building dry, such as are you allowed to drink?” E.g Their answers varied, for instance, one person told me he did not have a car, while the other is just living at Hofstra for convenience.
On my way out I took another photograph such as:http://s3.amazonaws.com/data.tumblr.com/tumblr_ktkrjwMiZ11qas644o1_1280.jpg?AWSAccessKeyId=0RYTHV9YYQ4W5Q3HQMG2&Expires=1259627109&Signature=Ps5JnAbDs%2BA5yHBUB0bEydgqBIs%3D
This photograph ”is of the outside. I noticed that the location and surroundings of this New Grad building is secluded, but in a good way. It has a garden and as you can see these tables and chairs to relax and maybe have a nice lunch and chat with a few friends.”
